Fresh-Snax is a growing company that has successfully used local radio advertising for the past few
years to raise awareness of its products. It supplies fresh “quality” sandwiches, home baked snacks,
the finest coffee and freshly-squeezed fruit juices for sale at premium prices in petrol filling
stations. Products are produced by traditional methods from very early morning by a team of
employees at a central depot. There are ten staff members who work in a large kitchen preparing
the food. Most of the staff have been with the company for a number of years and have been
working in the same way for a long period of time. The orders are taken by telephone by any
member of staff who is not busy or is close to the phone. The orders are written on a notepad next
to the telephone. The orders are prepared and packed in container boxes and labelled by the kitchen
staff. The container boxes are then collected and are delivered throughout the day by casual
workers in a fleet of vehicles.
Fresh-Snax has for the first time undertaken a full strategic review of its operations. A number of
weaknesses were identified by the customers:
1. A number of orders placed by customers over the telephone were wrongly recorded and in some
cases orders simply went ‘missing’
2. A number of customer have complained that they are unable to place their orders by telephone
as the lines are frequently busy
3. Many lunch orders were delivered after 3pm
The manager of Fresh-Snax has also identified a number of weaknesses in the current system,
including; insufficient stock to prepare the orders, poor scheduling of deliveries to customers, and
casual staff unable to keep records of deliveries made.
In terms of opportunities, the owner of Fresh-Snax is now aware that using technology to a greater
degree and meeting customer needs more fully is essential if the business is to keep its loyal
customer base. To this end it is proposed that a new computer system will be purchased that will
integrate a number of business functions, including stock control, recording and accepting customer
orders, routing/scheduling of orders and recording of delivered orders.

Kindly post your suggestion on what type of Technology to be deploy, how it will work and the technical problems that might be involve.

A decent CRM (Customer relationship management) suite that is well integrated should solve your problem.
This will allow your customers to enter orders, let you track them, let you do follow up and give you a base for future marketing.
You have 2 choices (paid or free)
For paid I can only recommend netsuite because it has all the functions I wanted and it is web based. This way, even if the manager is in Dubai buying materials, he can monitor what is happening at his store (no 419)

If it is free you want, u'll have to chose between vTigerCRM and SugarCRM

Well, i think at this junction you should tell us which of the technologies we have mentioned so far seams of interest to you. and how u intend to implement it.

Guy i need ur help on how this can be possible and the technical problems involve.

The customer will basically relate with the Fresh Snax Company through their GSM Handset and to a limited extent via the internet. They will communicate with the company using specified codes and Syntax via the network of a GSM service provider.

The Data from the GSM handset gets to the Service providers network via a radio link. From the GSM service provider network, the data is transmitted to the Mast/Satellite/Broadband of Fresh Snax via a radio link and from there the data gets to the Company Server via a Coaxial cable connection. The Client server network will connected to together via a twisted pair network cable.

The customers will register with company on their website on the internet and an account will be created for the customer. This online account with the company will be funded via a direct credit from the from the customer’s credit Card (E.g Master card and VISA .) and each time the customer place an order this online account is debited.

Customer can place their order, make an enquiry, confirm the status of their order and send a feedback on the kind of service rendered on their Handset via a pre-determined syntax or code send via SMS to the Server of fresh snax via the GSM network. This query the database on the server and an automatic response (if necessary) is sent to the customer inform of SMS message. For example if the customer placed an order the response will involve an order ID that will be used in tracking the owners of the different orders.

The internet Server will also run a web based Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Software that will have different modules that address each of the problems being faced by the company in their business operations.
