Step2: PRACTICE IMAGE PROCESSING WITH WEBCAM.. Since this projects would require mostly our Software and Mathematics knowledge... Lets start from that part, so that by the time we purchase qwerkbot's hardwares, we already ve good understand of what to do immediately.
If u realy want to understand every technical details of this project, then get urself a webcam and connect it to your Linux box. Alternatively u cld get a Dlink IP wireless surveilance camera. Thats a closer match to Qwerkbots vision.
When u get that up, then use a....streaming software to view and record videos....
With all this in place, we would now implement/experiment on different Image software libraries..And decide on the best for our project.
The software should be able to recorgnice patterns in a picture or video file. For example if the software is to process a pciture containing the Olympic Logo, and its to find the number of cicular shapes in the picture, ...It should be able to detect that there are five olympic rings in the picture...U get what i am saying
Thats that about step two.
This step is vey important, because it would form the main inteligence in our robot(This is where the machine vision technology comes in).
Regardss

Step3: Get a Good Understanding of Device Programming..
We need a fairly good understanding of device programming to be able to get the best out of this project...device programming i mean doesnt have to be Low level languages, because most of the low stuffs have been written in higher level languages, and we can use their exposed API's.
But in using such interfaces, we still need to undertand the logic going on in the background. This theoretical knowledge is enough to help us know how to use our own codes to control the robots devices in the best possible and well optimised manner.
I would recommend we start to lay our hands on C programming language, and books like Building Embedded Linux Systems.
We would develop ourselfs together in this area. Lets ask relevant question from each other, and lets exchange some source codes to practice with...This area is also a green area to me, so anybody that got some tips should please share it..
Regards

Step4 Understand the Qwerkbot Hardware Assembly.. To build a good controller system into our robot, we should have a sound understanding of the Hardware parts...I have just Uploaded a zipped folder of the Qwerkbot Harwdare documentations in the CareersNG Shared Folder. Here is the link: http://www.careersng.com/phpBB2/getfile.php?fid=6 A detailed documentation of the qwerk board is here: http://www.careersng.com/phpBB2/getfile.php?fid=7
Since we wld most likely have to setup an event that we bring us together and we get our robot built, its the best we have all our facts ready(asin well read). So let our Hardware guys...Hints and Coach Jiggo Do detailed study of those manuals.
We need to master how to assemble everything together, after purchase.
Thats it about step4. Its all hardware hardware stuffs, let the elctronics/hardware study and analysis begin

Step5: Understand Qwerk's I/O Programming Step5 would build on step3.
Here we would apply our understanding of device programming to Qwerk
From step4, where we would have sound working knowledge of Qwerks hardware installation. Based on the harwdare structure and our functional requirements, we need to at this stage cleary define the control calls we want to do on Qwerk. And understand how to make the required digital I/O calls on it.
After this stage, we should be able to clearly outline all the control calls we can do with the qwerk hardware.
And be able to write codes that would make the I/O calls..
This step is the point of interception between harware and software in the robot. The software and the hardware guys would really be dependent on each other to make this work!
But at the end it would work! We can do it!
Impossible is nothing ..

Yes ooooooooo X-2-X..
I ve actually decided i wasn't going to say anything about that project again, not until i see seriously interested guys showing up. Although i ve not done enough publicity for the project yet, but a publicity might even attract more xcited enthusiasts than the real passionate and ready to work enthusiasts. I guess mallmusa should most likely be a serious enthusiasts.
Therefore mallmusa, you are welcome to the team.... As usual your first assignment is to read through this topic right from the First Post to the post we are right now....
When you are done with that, lets know your opinion, and what you would like to learn and contribute to this project....
Regards

I will like to contribute to the development of this project.
I sturdied elect./elect. engr. and with the list displayed,i think i can handle majority of the section. But,am yet to know the basic function required by this project to execute.I mean what exactly do we want this machine to do?we need to provide this project with a perticular defination and i will prefer if we can start from known to unknown in the execution. My mail ID is rabline2002@hotmail.com.If need be for personal communication.
Since we improving in numbers as time runs,i will suggest we select people that will be in charge of fund raising for the project,or working on how to get sponsor, while others get busy with sturdying the posted links for more knowledge about the project. Also,we should try to form a team and we work with our team member.I mean knowing people on similar profession.
Also,i will appreciate if we can make a target for the commencement of the project.
We ve the technical knowhow am sure, all we need right now is planning and execution.
