Career Development for Nigerians ... A Knowledge Sharing Forum!
Hi you are simply great and qualify to the be the virtous woman (abi lady) that the bible spoke of in Pro:31.
I am highly impresed by your educating analysis and unlike most Nigerian female folks (apology to ladies) that simply live a life of Pretence.
Most ladies actually live a fake life and that is very disturbing.
I am very sure your guy has trully gotten an inestimable jewel in you.
Back to financial issue, your former GTB friend issue reminds me of some stuff I read previously in Rich dad Poor Dad. The question is, is Car really an asset or a liability? While the need for a car can not be overemphized but I beleive your friend choice of buying a Jetta instead of one big car is indeed a great financial intelligence.
Abeg instead of buying my dream car Honda IVtec at the moment i fe go for Jetta o.
Make una send me price for Jetta.

I love the feelers that are emanating on this subject and the quality of the responses. Uninhibited, yarinya du Kano, nice throttling.
I would also like to add that Investment is a Strategy, it is a set of consistent procedures and targets that an individual has set for himself or herself. Oppotunities always abound, of course farmers do not sow a particular crop all year round, eg corn. There is a time to sow, a time to nurture and a time to harvest but a great farmer would have found a winning formula that influences his time of planting and technique of weeding and warding of pests and the likes, though of course such techniques if perfect can work equally well in the locale.
Likewise with financial investments, there are seasons for each strategist. Firstly, one should have a financial goal that is personal and then look for investment vehicles that can get one there without necessary attaching oneself to the vehicle.
Also, this process leads to all the acquisition of necessary skills and constant honing that makes one an expert at the game. The engine would always have issues, and it takes an expert to fix and push it unto higher outputs.

Femi, thanks for the wonderous insight into the Dangote offer. it is going to help many people make decisions concerning "putting your money where your mouth is". Well, considering the pros of the offer, what about the cons?? someone said "the offer is just about 1% of the company" how does that affect the average JOE investing in it??.
Again, this is xmas, are there potential stocks to go for due to the feelings in the atmosphere (yuletide"spending habit of people would definitely receive a boost"). people will want to divest some of their shares and would this affect shares???.what sectors are recommended to invest into, anybody has ideas regarding this???

As for the other question, looks like its a matter of trust u have for the stockbroking firm otherwise i know of a stockbroking firm who would give you access to a portal whereby you can monitor your shares in the market and how it rises.
Also i learnt NSE is about to launch an e-transact service for the stock exchange which should make stock monitoring easier.
Cheers

X-2-X, please highlight what the negative comments are with respect to Fidelity bank shares. The performance of the shares over the past 9 months has been splendid experiencing over 400 percent increase in share price (at least i know of someone who bought it for #2 last year December and its currently #11+ on the Floor).
Don't you think the share value of Fidelity bank after this IPO could experience at least 100% increase which i expect should be the minimum?
AS for Japaul,i think its worth the risk though just like you i'm on the fence. However something tells me that withthe business they're involved in and the current contract signed with Shell, this might just be another "Dandote Sugar" stock for the year 2007 if you know what i mean.
