Well the slide is a GPS Navigation Business killer! Google has released a powerful maps and navigation app out to people for free! No no, Google is not just a giant tech company any more ooo, they are now a Tsunami to all tech businesses. You better watch your back before them sweep you away! have you heard the rumor that Google is finally coming out with their own mobile phone. This time both hardware and software. who says it wont be free also!? Google is just using one succesfull money machine of a technology (Adsense) to sweep every other business areas even if they are not making profit from them (e.g YouTube and Android). The problem i now have with all the Google competitors is that they are attacking the branches and not the root! They are attacking Google's products (branches) like Search, Android,Maps, Checkout, GoogleBooks, Gogle Earth etc. Instead of them to attack the one and only root of all the money for all these which is Adsense! Where is the competitor on Adsense? really... where is it Microsoft's Bing and Yahoo are merging on Search what are they doing about Adsense
well.. lets wait and see.... until Google gets a stiff competitor on Adsense, we are inevitably in a Google monopoly technology era!

The OVI maps app that came with my 5800 XpressMusic was very useful - it did not have voice nav and all that, but using the in-built GPS and street level map, I could find my way anywhere, walking.
I have just updated to the latest OVI maps. First impression: Marvellous! This one will really be handy. I knew I was not going to regret (at least, short term) sticking with Nokia, despite the Android "noise". Er . . . dont even talk about the i-Phone, I am not interested.
I guess the new OVI maps opens a new vista of opportunities for location based services, especially in the third world.

Navmii launches first mobile Navigation app for Nigeria
Telecgsm and Geolife UK have announced the availability of the first turn-by-turn mobile navigation application, Navmii, for the iPhone 3G & 3GS in Nigeria.

the most exciting part is the fact that MeeGo is completely opensource and its managed by the Linux Foundation. Now our cars and living rooms would fully automated and internet enabled within the next 5yrs!
i am personally excited about MeeGo.. because i was already doing some Qt stuffs on Maemo... Lets see how this answers the Android & Iphone trends. but rather than answering them head-on.. Intel & Nokia decided to take an extra step into the future with MeeGo!

OK.. lets talk programming languages..
Last year i was talking with my Indian friend and i predicted that C++ would come back as a strong programming language this new decade (2010-2019). but it was difficult to understand because everything was shouting Java and Python! First, the basis for my prediction is the fact that the future of technology is going Ubiquitous Computing which means computer in our environment. This is likely to happen especial in the new craze for mobile computing and mobile internet. I think we are just getting tired of the idea of sitting down with a computer, we want computer to spread around in our environment. Now if this is true.., it means we would have more embedded computer devices.. thereby needing that programming language that is fastest in manipulating hardware.. which is C/C++. That was my thinking ooo..
Before I know what is happening.. anti-Open source Oracle has swallowed Java, Nokia bought C++ powered Qt library and became an open-source lover! Nokia went further alongside Intel and created a C++ based open-source mobile phone operating system called MeeGo, and now we are hearing Oracle attacking Google on Java! and even now Nokia just launched a new certification program called: Nokia Certified Qt Developer! Shall we now confirm that C++ is truly back..
NOT YET!..., until we see the performance of the first MeeGo phone and the number of developer support for the OS.
For now.. i would keep my fingers crossed
