Pls is there anyway I can get a simulator that can be used to practice network connection using VLSM(Variable Length Subnet Masks).I've got the full theoretical knowledge from sybex but I'll still prefer to do some practical stuffs.Any help?
If true, u might just qualify to be in the guiness book. I strongly doubt that that can be acieved without hook/crook, except for someone who's already got some experience in networking stuffs.
@thread: 1. You dont need dumps to pass. I actually discourage the use of dumps. What you need are textbooks not dumps.
2. Network Sims and Exam sims are freely available online. The harder you search, the better the ones you'll find.
3. If you have books and simulators, you dont need a training school.
The most important thing is not how fast you earn the certification, it is how much of the certification knowledge you understand and are able to intelligently apply in the future to solve problems.
The certificate in itself is worth next to nothing, maybe except in Nigeria.

yea it does happen even from people who prepared well for the exams b4 they passed. u know our learning system in Nigeria...you think about the exam when you are studying...you dont even think about the application of what you are reading. Other factors like interview tension also makes pple forget sometimes. Thats how i can explain it...but the most hilarious is the last question...i used to ask IT students, but i decided to ask a full Engineer one day...because he said Maths was is strongest area in undergraduate work. so i asked him...he said..complex numbers! i said yes so whats the answer...he went aghast...he couldn't recollect it very well again. so u wld know he has done it b4 but...u know how we do our exams in school nowww,..especially in school where handout is heavily used...la-cram-la-por. But i think the strongest explanation is interview tension..., its crazy sometimes it that it can make you forget your middle name when i was looking for job...what almost killed me in one interview day was just the AC. My brotherrr, my body and my lips vibrated to-say...i almost couldn't talk againnnn

Just read this post on the CCNA stuff and it is really funny and so funnily true. i am not a CCNA but know enuff about Internetworking to apply this knowledge. i have a cousin who had to dole out about 50K to become certified. great in 2 weeks he took the exam and passed. recently i was asking him questions a CCNA should know but the guy could not even define an internetwork, neither could he tell me what a router does or what PPP is. I told him that he has just wasted such huge money cause he has no advantage over others who do not possess certification.
His lame excuse was that he only prepared for the exam and it is now that he would read up to "KNOW"
Moral of the story. dont aim to pass, but aim to know and you will end up passing

My REACTION TO THE ABOVE!!!
pLS, dont let anyone disuade/confuse you from achieving what u want to achieve....
1.You need certifications in Today work enviroment...for confirmation..check Glo,celtel,MTN,swifttalk websites, just to mention a few and u will find professional certification to be a must... 2.concerning some passing exams and cannot pass interview or some basic questions..... well we all learn on the job...even if you can answer everytin at the interview level..u will still be trained in every new job environ....
3.as for dumps.....ahhhhh...you cant pass any certification without using dumps...
Although i will advise u use dumps along side textbooks extensively...textbooks make u understand what u are meeting in the dumps..
but note...the real exam u meet in certifications are the dumps..nothing else... though 90% of answers are found in the texbooks..still u may not know what the answer is without the dumps...
pls dont pay for any exam without mastering the dumps at 100%
4..If u are self driven and a go getter..pls dont be discourged and do the right thing......dont wait to know evrytin about routers, switches, and so on before u get urself certified/.why? we continue to learn everyday..
The certificate in itself is worth something everywhere.....
