Fowe, I was going to start a post on this topic when I read the Independent and Times' article concerning the comments of a Nobel prize winning scientist.

I decided not to after I read a subsequent article by a nigerian which added another twist to the brohaha.

I concluded that rather than arguing, we should get our hands dirty trying to change the percerption by what we do and achieve. Pronto!

I think all this is trully caused by the inability of the blacks to really show they are intelligent in the practical sense according to the write up here

So lets put on our thinking and prove to the world we up to the task.Then we can leave a good legacy for our upcoming generation.It all started with one generation and another generation has to stop it, i hope its going to be our generation

What a complex issue because you are commenting on feelings rather than facts. It might just be what the white men called xenophobia.

Let's go biblically and historically too. I welcome your comments on this.

@x2x: pls try and understand Mall Musa: HE's saying blacks haven't exercised their intelligence because they feel they need the white man's help to do it. In essence, he feels if they did the little they could-without relying on the white man-they could have proven that they were more intelligent.
I personally feel this is inline with the reverse racism (or inferiority complex) I thought of.
Apart from that, black ppl have made contributions to science, however not as much as the white because I generally feel this is a result of both our (assuming we're all black) disposition. Although, different civilizations have had their times. I say civilizations because science (& intelligence) usually reveals itself in our way of life. They Arabs had their own (Astronomy, mathematics chess), EGypt had their own, Ethiopia, greece, & china also had ancient advancements. While UK, Rome, Germany and now USA are just the representatives of modern advancement. SO pls note that the scientists u mentioned are those who advanced in the modern era-significant of the white man. Not during, Egypt or ethiopia's era. And I doubt Isaac Newton's farm was worse than anywhere in AJ city. Isaac's mom was rich for goodness sake.. Isn't that y he had "the time" to develop theories?
So, is refreshment the problem? NO! The usa spends more than that now. Moreover, developing nuclear weapons isn't something we can't do- we weren't just allowed to do it!
True it is ingenuity that we need, but pls I dare say we do have it: We just apply it wrongly by using it for stupid or less important purposes (e.g. working hard only at exams instead of everything including exams and jobs), in laziness (e.g. relenting on our oars after we've achieved little or made a little money) or both.
