What can a Nigerian Fresh graduate do What really works in Nigeria after school....based on the grade you finish with in school...since graduation grade has been over-emphasized in Nigeria's Job market.
Finished with a 2-2? This is the most versatile category of Nigerian graduates...where i would say your real grade is in your mind! Why because if you finish with a 2-2. By default you are not under a big pressure to do well after school. If you accept in your mind that you are a primary school teacher material or even a Bus conductor people will understand because you can easily hide under the excuse of no job in Nigeria... in short you have the chance to be as foolish as you want when you finish with a 2-2! On the other side you can be as best as you can be too...even far better than a 1st class grad...its all in your mind! Thats why i always encourage fresh grads to move with the right people..and talk to the right people...who would motivate you into good and better things and not the ones that would give you pessimistic advice. Lets assume you finish with a 2-2 and you ve not gotten a job 18months after NYSC..and you are now under pressure...first thing..check your environment!
Ok lets hit the list i would suggest for a 2-2 grad.
1)You can goto do your Masters in a good Nigerian University. But calculate your age very well ooo. If job is what you want keep searching for it along with your program.
2)If you love academics...goto do ur Masters..and PhD and become a lecturer! I think that is a slow/but guaranteed way of becoming someone useful for yourself and Nigeria! Lecturer salary would hopefully be getting more better into the future
3)Start jacking diverse flavors of aptitude tests as if its your final year exam! Thats the gateway to so many job opportunities in Nigeria. Set a stop watch for yourself..and do rigorous practice. I notice many dont prepare very well for this tests..and they keep failing so many of them and they keep saying its because of man-no-man! Its a lie! There are 1001 jobs in Nigeria that you need no man to get the job! So why not go for them Dont forget that a 2-2 grad as slimmer chance of getting called for a test...so opportunity you get..you simply want to kill-it!
4)Do you know.. you can prepare and package yourself so well...that you can get a chance of studying abroad And even getting scholarship or free tuition schools. You no information sometimes is everything go search for it!
5)Jump into IT...its selling everywhere in the world!
6)Are you good in leadership, logistics and organization, sports , entertainment You really want to settle down and access some of the things you ve done b4 that you are soo good at...and maybe you can just go into it and create a unique niche for yourself...
7)What of Business But i advice you are selling a need and you have a creative product driven by your talent or your workers talent!
8 ) Why not consider some professional education...e.g ICAN, CISA, PMP, etc.. But choose wisely and make sure your interest is in that direction.
9)Go into politics..go share national cake :D..just jokinggg But you know some people has taking politics as a profession
In all...my believe is that a 2-2 grad can make himself what ever he wants to be even in Nigeria! The diff between a 2-2 and a 1st class grad is that a 1st class can easily get what to do without so much thinking...while a 2-2 would need more planning and thinking..but this indirectly query and strengthens a 2-2 grads street intelligence...and with that he/she can easily be as good or better than a 1st class after 10yrs of grad! Wear the glasses of a visionary..give yourself a solid long term plan...and face it with determination!...what you would become is right in your mind...
Wish you guys the best!

A fresh Nigerian graduate with a 2-2 can do a whole lot! Except he/she doesnt know where he/she is headed for in life. Llife doesn't consist of the grade a person has... The problem common with so many graduates is (whether from first class to pass) they really havent decided on what they are going to do after school.
The first thing u should be glad about is dat u went to school(abi na tru school), do u know how many people dat envy u... na ur assignment b dat...

I'm also a 2-2 graduate. i was one of the first graduants in my school to get a job from one of the biggest banks in the country.
I was simply was so persuaded to outshine my certificate and proove i'm good!
Of course, there is always the supernatural side commonly referred to as favour of God. Its unmistakable and independent of the human interference or the nigerian man-no-man factor.
cheers.

once upon a time in 2006...we discussed this thing...we can bring some of dos posts here..cos they were eye openers... Even coys. are now wise..hence dey bring down their requirements to administer 2-2..cos dey av brains...highly intelligent...
Our deepest fears is not that we r inadequate Our deepest fears is dt we r powerful byond measure.. we ask outrselves..who am I to be ds marvellous, gorgeous and endowed.. Actually who r u not to be? We av been created tpo make manifest the glory of God And as we let our light shine, we invariably give others power to do same...
this quote is powerful..let it move u unto greater heights!!!

All fingers cannot be the same and the grade one finishes with depends on factors which may be within or outwith the control of the student.
Is there any one here that will prefer to graduate with a pass or 2.2 than to graduate with a 2.1 or first? Lets not deceive ourselves - If you are looking for a job, then grades matter! especially for your first job. That should not suggest that you curtail your ambition because you have a lower grade. Your success or failure on the job is not strictly grade dependent.
I sincerely believe my grade can not limit me in fulfilling my dreams. Whatever a man has, that is what God uses as a tool to bless him provided the man is ready to make use of what he has.
Nevertheless, good academic grades should be the dream of every serious student. My philosophy has always been, anything what doing is what doing well.
I consider myself to have failed if and only if I am performing below my installed capacity. Every student/body should know his/her installed capacity in this context. Without shying away from the truth, First Class academic grade is not meant for everybody but as a student work hard for it and put yourself at the peak of the pyramid because the base of the pyramid is just too wide. A good academic grade will always be helpful any day anytime.

am in support of somina...'s view point and any other fella who feels to be determined and focused from school mean something. Many would have had a better grade if they had listened to their inner voice calling...
