I was discussing with a friend of mine about my fears that INEC may not be able to conduct a free and fair eclection come April, and he told me the election is mere formalty, the our rulers already know who the next President will be. I beg to differ, so am throwing the discussion open to the house for discussion DO YOU HAVE ANY FEARS ABOUT INEC'S ABILITY TO CONDUCT A FREE AND FAIR ELECTION IN APRIL. LETS LEAVE SENTIMENTS OUT OF THIS AND RESPOND WITH FACTS. |

There are two major issues at hand. 1. Irrespective of how free and fair the election may be, the losers will definately complained of rigging. This assumption/opinion stem from lack of integrity, trust and acountabilty that are the characteristics of most Nigerians including our institutions and government. 2. The second one is, is INEC ready to be an unbiased umpire? from incidences happening so far you may certainly conclude INEC may simply be a puppet to PDP. My consolation is however, some of the people that perpetrated the rigging of April 19th 2003 (4/19/03) are now in various political parties so in as much that they may not have the machinery to repeat the same rigging in their new political parties at least they are aware of the strategies so they will surely guide against it,so more or less forcing INEC to conduct a free and fair election. In conclusion there is no where in the world that you can obtain 100% fairness in election but I beleive INEC will perform better than they did in 2003. |
