I read the story again, and the opening speech of the Madam, sounds very ...........feel in the gap - sorry to say.
Though i understood the implication of the purported Fund Raising ceremony with "Rich Nigerian Fellows", but Reuben opened my eyes to see more. It's trully uncalled-for, in the name of "our brother"......
I am actually skeptical of the eventual result of the election in November. Nigerians and African started feeling they have a say in US' election, of course they can feel so, don't they have that same feeling for our own elections and we all see where it has taken us to.
If you have watched "The Head of State" a film where a black man became US president, i had believed before now that if they can think it, they can achieve it. I think in the 'soonest soon' it will emerge, but will Obama be, this i can't say with all certainty in the light of all these charades going on everywhere.
When Obama was going solo, doing his thing with less support from the black communities - both in US and Abroad - less noise was heard and nobody gave him a chance, even ..... (i guess). But now, his success has become "our own brother', and blacks everywhere chants OBAMAOBAMAOBAMAOBAMAOBAMAOBAMAOBAMAOBAMAOBAMAOBAMA, even some made it their desktop wall paper.
Personally, (remember, personally i say), OBAMA has achieved a feat and that feat is "ENOUGH FOR ME". For the first time in the History of Man, a man (black) and a woman emerging as presidential candidates in the US and eventually a Black did emerged - even whichever way it had gone, i will sure be pleased (though Hillary last statements about OBAMA were not commendable)
These achievement has given the so called "ordinary people' a dream, a focus and a believe that "it is possible" - This is my lesson and can't let t sleep away.
The dream has been achieved - "where my daughters will not be judged by their color but the content of their character
No doubt Obama is a great man. But I have this feeling that he may not win at the end of the day.
Whether he wins or not I blv he has opened another new chapter for the African-Americans. His acceptance speech coinciding with the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr famous speech I have a dream is nothing but a well planed and orchestrated coincidence which further proves that indeed Martin Luther's dream was a great dream.
I wish we of this generation can also make the dreams of our heroes past become a reality in Nigeria.
