Forumites, Thx for the encouragement.. I never knew my Yoruba addiction was an asset, a strength .. ot a weakness/gbese. i am working on a Yoruba dictionary and software already... (open secret??) But first.. lemme start with a replacement of commonly used slangs... especially amongst couples.. For example... Why say my sweetheart/honey/icecream/popcorn etc?? In the olden days, our 4mother got so tripped with the way our 4fadas cyked them.. as in... Paraga mi... ( instead of my icecream) Olo mi... ( instead of honey Pie) Eyinfunjowo.. ( that one sef no get rival) Ibadi Aran.... ( instead of my sugar Ray) olowo Ori mi, Ale elomi ( instead of my one and only) Aransi Eledumare .. Oko Amutorunwa ( instead of my angel) etc... Well.. history has a way of repeating it self. So Guyz, if our 4fadas could catch beauty queens of their time with these basic scopes, we will also win in our generation with these nuggets!! For me.. it works like magic!! Native language ( Hausa,Ibo,Yoruba,Effik, ibibio etc) bring the message home more easily than oynbo man grammar. I hope im not stirring a paradigm shift already??????/ I go feel you in.. make i wear my thinking cap ( like baba awolowo) for now. I'll post one of the letters i sent to my last date here.. and i will also post the english version.. 1...2...3...GO!! |

GB! Anyday u yarn those your yoruba Love vocabs with any of these fake ajebo babes na dat day u go know say the man wey speak grammar for im inlaw house na im go interprete am. All you will be hearing as response is phoneticized HOW DO YOU MEAN?. . However the eternal truth is that, those yoruba( any other tribe) love vocabs are more meaning laden than our borrowed official language own. Abeg send me more of those Yoruba love vocabs and their meaning. I am damn serious I need them urgently. |

Gb! Thanks for those great love lyrics, only be sey I don pass that stage with her. But it is still very useful. I don store am for my phone. It may become very handy this Xmas as i am planning to go home (my village) for XMas. Truly speaking I still need more of it because I am going to be like Gani Fawehinmi where yoruba will be my home ligua franca. If u speak English for my house, u pay N10 fine to me if it is my wife 10 Kisses. |
