Cheers Fowe. I requested my friend to try VMware - that would be against next time.
For now, I will go with Grand Unified Boot Looder (GRUB) on a dual boot - Win XP and Redhat 9, pending Fedora's release.
Although the VMware thingy sounds interesting, I dont have the time now to go "VMWare searching". I remember it took you a while to sort VMWare out, and I am not that patient - I have to deliver fast!
About odd number Fedora distro's, any reason why not? Strangely I just remebered that the odd number Redhat releases were always my favorite - version 6, 7.2 (ok, not quite odd numbered) and 8. As far as I know, Redhat 8 was the "last good" Linux!
On the offside, kind of, can we have a post or maybe site for solutions to IT problems? Like I have a case am intending to deal with and its being long I was last kinly interested in MCSE or CCNA, but there is a laptop that turns on and after some minutes the screen goes out and this is consistent. Wish to get a solution anyway.

I just came across this thread and i read it all. it is good the way u geeks banter about ur passions. well if u X-2-X want a platform for testing linux apps, then go with VMWare stuff. u can have mandriva2007 or 2008 installed since dependencies are easily resolved wit it. if it does it suit you. just create another VM and load another Linux distro until u are satisfied.

Actually, i would like us not to get mixed up. I think I had a post somewhere where I alluded to the fact that you use the best tool for the job, as strictly speaking, all languages will have their weakness vis-a-vis a specific situation (OS/users/paradigm/ etc).
Its just that for me, Java fits the bill more than anything else, thats not to say I prescribe java as the only answer.
