Yea this is an highly diversified topic that i ve been thinking/talking about for long.
This question is what crept into the mind of so many fresh graduates after about 3months into their first job...
You see, to have a fulfilled career is like building your own house, and we know the most important stage of building a house ; when laying the foundation.
Permit me to tell you that your first job is like the final/finishing layer of the foundation of your career, permit me to say this stage is the last most flexible stage of your career.(when you still ve liberty to swivel into so many directions).
So it would be wise for you to quickly know that the number of months you spend in your first job means the cement /blocks of your foundation is getting dried and solid(less changeable ).
And this is one of the most crucial stages of your career, this is not to scare you, but the truth is this stage is more crucial than when you never had a job, because now your career molding is right in your hands, and you are automatically taking decisions everyday thereby building your career everyday.
You would discover this stage is not highly emphasized compared to job search....you know why because the most valuable info in life is never emphasized.... you just gat to find it yourself(if you want career fulfillment, and not just in a 4rever employee job loop!). Most people never even dudder about what kind of career they are building.. andso most people never attain career fulfillment... That brings us to what is career fulfillment.... that would be part of my subsequent responses to this topic...
If you are in this choose, i wana ask; do you have the right foundation in there... do you understand your career architecture Is your desires, your passion and self actualization well considered in your design
Give this a good thought, lets analyze together if need be.
Most importantly do a last check that the foundation of your career is well intact, and can sustain your future goals and ambition!
Wish you the best....

Thanks for this thread. Would like to ask questions though: how does one know if the foundation is right or not? How does he go about fixing it if it isnt?

..yea,
All you need do is what i call think local and think global...
think local in the sense that.. checkout the job, perform a self appraisal by asking yourself:
Am i really enjoying this job?
Am i excited to read more materials/books in other to understand the aspects of this job better?
Does my fellow workers feel i am performing excellently in this job?
Is this job(company) interested in my career growth?
Am i getting a commensurate renumeration from this job?
Think Global:
Does this job align very well with my educational qualifications?
Am i putting my talents to the best of use?
Can this job lead me and train me to fulfill my dreams and core passion?
Who could i become in 5yrs time continuing this job?
Is this job position marketable/competitive, asin is my job description highly sort after in the job market?
If you can answer those questions very well....
You wld ve a good empirical data to work with...i.e
Give yourself a percentage rank on every aspect, and judge how well you doing.
Its more tasking to ve answers to the Think Global set of questions, because many Nigerian graduates dont even know their talents talks less of core passion etc.. If you are in that choose, na small small, u wld know it as u progress in your career.
Almost everybody has answers to the think local questions, because its what you do everyday. So even if you dont ve answers to the think global questions, and you see that you are excellent with the think local questions, then go ahead with the job. But if u doing poorly, then u might ve to change your job very very fast!
More later

thanks for your effort in providing answers to my questions.
However, if the job is not as challenging as it used to be what do one do?
Fowe, for example after being on a particular job for a long time, u seem to know so much about it that to you it may not be challenging anymore but to a new entrant it may still be very very challenging.
what do u advise one to do.
Enjoying a job and the job being challenging is not exactly the same thing.
