There was a one hour interview on CNBC with Warren Buffet, the second richest man who has donated $31 billion to charity Here are some very
interesting aspects of his life:[/b]

1. He bought his first share at age 11 and he now regrets that he started too late!

2. He bought a small farm at age 14 with savings from delivering newspapers.

3. He still lives in the same small 3-bedroom house in mid-town Omaha, that he bought after he got married 50 years ago. He says that he has everything he needs in that house. His house does not have a wall or a fence.

4. He drives his own car everywhere and does not have a driver or security people around him.

5. He never travels by private jet, although he owns the world's largest private jet company.

6. His company, Berkshire Hathaway, owns 63 companies. He writes only one letter each year to the CEOs of these companies, giving them goals for the year.
He never holds meetings or calls them on a regular basis. He has given his CEO's only two rules.
Rule number 1: do not lose any of your share holder's money.
Rule number 2: Do not forget rule number 1.

7. He does not socialize with the high society crowd. His past time after he gets home is to make himself some pop corn and watch Television.

8. Bill Gates, the world's richest man met him for the first time only 5 years ago. Bill Gates did not think he had anything in common with Warren Buffet. So he had scheduled his meeting only for half hour. But when Gates met him, the meeting lasted for ten hours and Bill Gates
became a devotee of Warren Buffet.

9. Warren Buffet does not carry a cell phone, nor has a computer on his desk.




His advice to young people:

"Stay away from credit cards and invest in yourself and
Remember:

A. Money doesn't create man but it is the man who created money.
B. Live your life as simple as you are.
C. Don't do what others say, just listen to them, but do what makes you feel good.
D. Don't go on brand name; just wear those things in which u feel comfortable.
E. Don't waste your money on unnecessary things; just spend them on who really is in need rather.
F. After all it's your life then why give chance to others to rule your life."

Mr. Buffet's level of financial "discipline" is awesome.

I know "you cant eat your cake and have it", but whats the point "having the cake, and not eating it"? (methinks other people will eat your cake after you die)

Why will I be so stupendously rich, yet cant "afford" a cell fone for ma self?

It is good to have investment discipline, give alms and be prudent etc, but men, It is also good to chop (at least small of) my money too. Abi I lie

My take is: be prudent, have financial discipline, invest wisely, but by all means indulge yourself (even if it is once in a while).

(I just dey imagine person wey get =N= 10,000,000 for account but they drink garri twice day day!) Hmm na wa oh.

Warren has always been an inspiration to me since i learnt and began further study on him. there are a few other striking things not included in your note:
1. He was at one time mentored on business and financial analysis. He still makes reference to his mentor.
2 at the age of 11 or so, his dad took him to the stock exchange
3. He calls the financial derivatives markets 'weapons of mass destruction WMD' and correctly predicted the global meltdown which is traceable to failures in this very complex market.
4. Oga warren has never made a loss in his business and financial predictions except for 2001 when his Insurance companies paid heavily for premuims due to the earth shaking destructions that took place in Manhattan, New york(september 11). He is also called the 'sage of Omaha'
5 he was invited for a birthday party by Bill gates. it was noticed that they spent a lot of time together during the meeting. Bill gates father threw a question to both of them: what would you consider as the most critical factor of your business success??? warren first answered : FOCUS! Bill gates responded shortly FOCUS
6 There are men who live like principalities. Who do not understand limits or limitations:( in 2008 he personally loaned billions of dollars to some of America's premier companies. of course it was not for free! He got equity and debentures.

He is a model for me on FINANCIAL INTELLIGENCE & SKILL
