I don tire for searching...
Which i one is really free amongst this vmware productsss :?:

I want to virtually install linux on my windows xp notebook.
Does anybody know the exact and free vmware software i need to use :?:

Just to update this topic.
I finally got mylaptop running Fedora and Trustix Linux...powered by VMware on windows.
And it works pretty good! Including standby-mode and even hibernating on windows, i still ve all my linux up&running on VMware.
Another interesting thing is that mylaptop doesnt ve a CDROM drive.... :roll:

so i installed all the OS directly from iso images on my hard disk. I just point VMware to it, and my hard disk becomes myCDROM :roll:

I am also thinking of installing IBM-AIX ...i dont know if anybody has a clue of how i can get that one done...although i would do some search on it soon.

Why not share with us a little bit of your experiences. What you have achieved and how you did. I am not an OS virtualization expert. But if its is vertualization in terms of network...then i can have idea.

Well i had VMWare 3.x installed on my laptp sometimes in 2006. it is pretty easy to install and use. The transparency is such that u think u have the Other Os installed on a partition on the hdd. u can play around and save up ur files so that u can pack them up and go(take them to another system and u continue from where u stopped).

Good to hear u found a way round ur laptop limitations.

I run server about 4 Linux and a Windoes On a VMware for linux hosted on a CentOs box and they all work fine without crashes..

I would be happy to get feedback from anyone that decides to use this new virtualization product from Sun.

I downloaded the xVM box. Works like magic. Tried it on Vista (to run Win XP, Win2000 and Win 98) also installed on Linux to run Vista and Xp.

Works perfectly. Only snag is that tor emulate any OS, you need the installation files for that OS - so if you want to run XP on Fedora, you need the installation CD for winXP which you'll use to set up the virtual system on you Linux box.

xVM support virtually all major OS's (most Unix flavours, All windows including windows 3.1!, Linux distros etc)

Suggest you try it first. If you are happy then you can knock off the proprietary one you had before.
