SMS=short message service works with limites service unlike voice calls on a GSM network.

sms uses the c7link, (signaling link) on the GSM network to transfer MO&MT (mobile Originating&mobile Terminating) messages from one mobile terminal(gsm phone) to another, or to applications(vice vica)...

i think say i still remeber my sms101.... should the class start...?

ok, where do we start from.

first thing you have to know, the SMS does not only work on GSM, it also works on the TDMA technology..../this is for another class...

now class begins....
sms can be sent over telephone network(gsm for the case of this class) only if the network has infrastructures to support receiving and sending.
not only this, the infrastructure would be configured to either recieve from off net(other networks) or on-net(its own network).

the sms infrastructure works with the store and forward technology, that means sms are not kept in any database..... or should i say there are not kept to long in a database.

hey.....i hope we know the meaning of SMS....

Mobile Telecom, although very techinical but interesting. Segla & Gbolahan THUMBS UP for the beautiful intro to the SMS technicalities really a nice jumpstart. The journey has just begun!

As a Solution Developer, lots of time might not be spent talking about techinical "jargons". Alot of buzz has been heard from stuffs like SMS, WAP, GPRS, UMTS......- these all are very possible areas where we can create marketable robust applications.

Someone pick any Task and lets make it mobile.
I guess it will also be a nice and practical way to get people to understand more quickly.
