Hi folks
I have just recieved an invitation letter from Exxonmobil to come for the test. Please if there is anyone in the house that has passed through this before or has been awarded in the past, kindly get to me directly through my contact email oluwafunmiadeniji@yahoo.com
Please let me know the following:
-How does the test look like?
-Is it more of questions related to your chosen field/course you intend to study?
-Is current affairs present, both home and away?
-Any other info is highly welcomed soonest.

Yea i ve done the exam b4.
Its basically thesame kind of aptitude test Mobil wld ask in job tests, + an accademic section.
There are 4 sections: Verbal, Numerical, and shapes ==> shld help u for that.
The 4th section is accademic questions related to ur field of study, either elect, chem, etc. This one looks like courses done in final year in the university.

for the mobil test, the electrical question spread thru all branches of
electrical engr. the questions are as folows
there is a question on synchrinozation / parallelism of electric machines,
there is a question on transformer, impedance matching,
2 questions on relay,
2 question on voltage regulation using zener diode
about 3 questions on transistor calculation
one question on Analog to digital conversion,
one question on power factor correction using capacitor,
a question on binary conversion

In response to Alafia's mail, I've resent the mail below to the group. Should help anyone who's preparing for the ExxonMobil test.

Hi all,

Concerning the ExxonMobil aptitude test, if all goes well and history repeats itself, then you can expect the following:

1) English: A succession of reading comprehension passages, each followed by 4 questions. U should have a total of 10 passages (and hence, 40 questions). The timing is rather tight: 20 mins or thereabouts.

2) Quantitative: Basically, this revolves around data interpretation. U are supplied with a sheet of paper containing various charts and tables. Ur job is to deduce answers to the questions based on these charts and tables. Again, timing is fairly tight -- something like 30 mins for 40 questions. Mind u, no calculators are allowed for this part.

3) Spatial Reasoning: U are presented with a sequence of diagrams and ur job is to deduce the next diagram in the sequence. Timing here is extraordinarily tight: I can't remember exactly, but I think it was 20 mins for 40 questions.

STRATEGIES
As with all objective exams, d strategy u adopt is very important. The most obvious strategy is to "work as quickly as u can without making too many errors" I suggest u give urself 5 less minutes for each section and try to finish within d reduced time. Some ppl studied GRE-type questions for ExxonMobil -- I would consider that an elaborate waste of time and money (if u have to buy d books). If at all u must practice GRE questions, do that for d sake of improving ur speed/accuracy combination, not because of the question types that u come across.

Read each question thoroughly before answering. Personally, I am always extremely suspicious when I solve a Math question and my answer is "A". I generally solve such questions twice. If u have that luxury of time, u can do so.

Do waste too much time on any question. In my estimation, 45 secs is way too much time to spend trying to solve a single question -- skip it and move on. When u practice, u shd aim to get a feel of how much time has elapsed.

And finally, my most important strategy: GET PLENTY OF SLEEP THE NIGHT BEFORE THE TEST!!! This may sound very funny, but I implore u guys to look back to our Unilag days. When did u have ur best results? I sincerely doubt if they were d consequences of repeated overnight readings. Relax, especially at the test venue. And whatever happens, don't be intimidated by d competition. It doesn't matter whether if u arrive at d test venue and find all d "living legends" of Unilag Engineering there, from Carrena, Sholiyi and Nejo to our own Chukwu, Majek and Tosin AK .

just wanna say 'more grease to ur elbows', the solution seekers are all smiling now.
Please who knows if the Exxonmobil scholarship result is out, i've not seen anybody who can confirm if its been released. I'll like to know pls.

Are you taking the first or second stage
If its the first stage..then dont be far from shl-like questions.
