i got this on alljobs, but re-routed to careersng.
Enjoy..
With dismay, I watch everyday, teeming young Nigerians roaming the
streets of lagos looking for jobs that will not come. they crowd
cybercafes to make online applications with no responses or replys
from the organisation( s). You see them at busstops reading the
dailies just to catch a glimpse of any job opening.
It really is sad, the way things go round in this country, infact I
see graduates and wonder how the economic situation could turn such
wonderful and talented souls into mediocrity.
Our youths, the leaders of tomomorw are no longer interested in the
Nation, it is only the few who have good jobs that remain, the
others are those who are helpless,who do not have the funds to get
out of the rat race, most of the nations talents are in foreign
lands.
The Nigerian youth is so desperate to leave the country, that the
other day I was at the South African embassy, I wondered what could
have brought such woes to a great country like Nigeria.
I notice also, anytime I was at an embassy, a larger number of young
Nigerians are the seekers of the visas for foreign relocation.
Nigerian leaders today should think of what to do to make our youths
desist from eloping to other countries and see how they can make
them (the youths) useful to build a better Nigeria.
As for me, I have no where to run to, so am going to have to fight
it out right here in this country.
Stakeholders meetings should continue to be held for youth
development, we dont need what is on paper but what is practical.
Mr. president promised a few weeks back at a youth forum, the
establishment of a Ministry of Youths, we are waiting to see it come
to life.
We continue to urge our leaders to put more interest in the plight
of the youths, our problem is not just Unemployment, there are a
heap of other areas that the Nigerian youth is being hit.
